About My Work & #OwnVoices
While my stories aren’t directly about my life, they are shaped by the uniqueness of my own journey. My work is often influenced by the severe accident I had as a teen and the long recovery that followed. Growing up multi-racial and navigating the world with a chronic illness have both played a significant role in how I approach themes of resilience, identity, and social justice. All of these aspects of my life weave into the characters and worlds I create, influencing the themes I explore—because life is messy, complex and unpredictable, and I want my writing to reflect that.
I write young adult-adult crossover romantasy novels that explore the complexities of those early-to-mid-20s years—the period of life where everything is changing and the future feels both exciting and overwhelming. I love classic tropes with modern twists, especially when they tackle real-life issues that resonate deeply. The magic of stories is when they help us become who we’re meant to be, and I hope readers find that in my novels.
Just a few of the things I love to include in stories are: female rage, complex trauma & healing, slow burns that are fully earned, political intrigue, self-discovery, moral greyness, unexpected twists, and romance that leaves you kicking your feet and wanting more.
Some of my #ownvoices are: bipoc (multi-racial), queer, chronic illness/disability, and neurodivergent.
Mom to a very fluffy Husky and two chonky black cats. Ex-NASA nerd turned fantasy writer and web designer. If I could get IVs of bubble tea, I probably would. Staunch believer that The Mummy (1999) is one of the best films ever made. UC San Diego Theatre alumna. Quote I live by: “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” - May West. Unreasonably obsessed with good writing, chocolate, and animal rescue stories. Some of my #ownvoices are: bipoc (multi-racial), queer, chronic illness/disability, and neurodivergent. Determined for you to find your next book boyfriend—and girlfriend—in the stories I write (stay tuned for updates here).
